Fayetteville, NC:

Up & Coming Weekly

For 15 years Up & Coming Weekly has been Fayetteville, Cumberland County and Ft. Bragg's leading alternative community newspaper in south central North Carolina. In January 2001, the publication converted from a bi-weekly format to a weekly format, creating the second largest source for news, views, arts and entertainment in the Cape Fear Region.

As a weekly publication Up & Coming Weekly has now entered the hard news arena. And, as the only other source of local news and views to the daily newspaper, our goal is not to be at the center of controversy, but rather the established, reliable and dependable media source through which people can depend to understand the local business, community and political news and issues effecting their daily lives.

Up & Coming Weekly is published by F & B Publications. Publisher/Owner, Bill Bowman, started the newspaper 1995 and has since grown it into a well respected, effective and viable media source not only in the Fayetteville community, but in the free paper industry. Up & Coming Weekly has been associated with the AWN since its beginning and actively participates in the "free" paper industry. In addition, Up & Coming Weekly is a member of the North Carolina Press Association, the Association of Free Community Papers, Independent Free Papers of America and the Southeastern Publishers Advertising Association. Unlike many community, daily and free publications, Up & Coming Weekly has been audited since its inception.

Up & Coming Weekly is highly respected in the Fayetteville/Cumberland County and Fort Bragg communities. Fayetteville is a progressive city located in the heart of the Sandhills of North Carolina. With over 300,000 residents the city and county enjoys strong economic growth and the presence of Fort Bragg is an extremely strong asset. Fort Bragg, home of the 82nd Airborne Division, is one of the largest military posts in the United States, with some 56,000 plus active duty soldiers assigned to the base along with their families. It is co- located here with Pope Air Force Base. 25% of our entire circulation serves Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base locations. We are a strong voice to the military. Soldiers and their families turn to us for local information and events. We are also very strong in Fayetteville's Historic Downtown District which is also experiencing tremendous growth and is the hub for cultural and fun entertainment venues.
